Errno 99

My interns were out shooting with this camera the other day and came back with it with this error whenever you pressed the shutter. I seem to have solved it by reformatting the CF card and putting it back in as well as double checking the bios, firmware and cleaning the components. I am still a little nervous as it appears as though this error normally means replace the camera. I have had it for nearly 2 years so i doubt anyone (Canon or the nearly out of business camera shop I bought it from) will replace it.

Anyone else have this issue? Have you fixed it? Do you know what Errno 99 is mapped to? Should I anticipate it coming back?

Another possible cause is a third party lens that might be slightly incompatible. Otherwise the obvious ones: dirty lens contacts, corrupted memory card and buggy firmware you've allready taken care of. It is even possible that it is a result of the sensor overheating and shutting off to protect itself (since I very occasionally get this error when shooting at high speed in automatic drive mode when the ambient temperature is high - of course this is completely anecdotal). If you're very unlucky it might be a sign of shutter problems:
