Dual Band 2.4 channel locks up every time phone rings?
I have a Netgear WNDR3700 Dual Band router and everytime the landline phone rings the internet stops working on the 2.4GHz channel. I know a little but about setting stuff up on the router but don't know how to diagnose my problem. Before I got this router I was on a Westell wireless G router that we had for years. I figured it was about time to update our home network and I chose a dual band because my desktop has a dual band pci card for gaming.
The modem I'm using is a Westell DSL and I'm not sure on the specs since it's old and I've tried googling and I can find were I can purchase it but no details. I started to think that the modem is my problem since I have the assumption that it uses a 10/100Mb/s connection while the router is gigabit connection. The 5GHz channel is fine only the 2.4GHz is locking up. I've tried everything I know to try to optimize it. I may have a faulty router but I would like some more knowledge before I start trying to figure out how to send it in for a new one.
Should I plan on sending it back or switching to the opensource interface and give that a go? If anything can lead me to information regarding to home networking and dual band that is easy to understand I would greatly appreciate it.

do you have a 2.4Ghz cordless phone by chance? if so this is most likely the cause If so try setting your wireless channel to a different channel. Instead of channel 1 try 11 or vice a versus or dump the old 2.4Ghz cordless for newer

You might consider getting a new cordless phone that uses digital communication such as DECT 6.0 which operates at 1.9 GHz.
