Droid back button not working, & other issues. Any fixes?

I have a friend who's Droid is in pretty bad shape. The back capacitive button doesn't work at all & the screen is constantly selecting things on its own. Is there any fix to this or is it pretty much done?

With the problems you've described, I'm just going to say that it's pretty much toast. He could try to contact Motorola to see what a service to replace the screen and capacitive buttons would cost, but he'd probably be better off just getting a new phone. Might be cheaper.

Standard warranty is gone, but does the friend have extended device coverage? If so it may be worth taking it in; the repair/replace may be covered.
