Question about
Drobo (with DroboShare) no longer automatically mounting under Snow Leopard
DroboShare automatic mounting seems to have been a bit spotty for a while now, but it looks like it's really, truly offline under Snow Leopard until a fix is released. Was trying to figure out why I couldn't get things mounted as usual, and came across this: support.datarobotics.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/7...
Kind of sucky, especially considering how long Apple gave everyone during the beta period to get their stuff ready and working in SL. Fingers crossed for an expeditious fix!

Got a call from Drobo this am, looks like Drobo updated their support page -- SL is now listed as supported in the latest release, although 64-bit mode won't work unless the device is directly connected.

I don't have a Drobo but have come across them and think they sound good but it's stuff like this that I try to make a reminder for when I actually want to purchase/recommend something like it.

My Drobo via DroboShare DOES mount by itself under Snow Leopard, but I then there is some indiscrepancy: on the Drobo Dashboard opening page the File System Format is correctly given as HFS+, but on the Advanced Controls Panel/Tools page it states "The format of this Drobo is unknown". If I do "get info" from the mounted volume in the Finder the format is given as "SMB (other)". And occasionally Drobo Dashboard reports that it is formatted in FAT32. When I attached the DroboShare for the first time it changed a number of file names - the manual gives no clue as to why this happens.
This is quite confusing and I am a bit concerned about data consistency. DroboShare is certainly not a product for the masses, way to complex.
Hope that Drobo support is listening to gdgt.
