iMac with Mac OS X 10.5.8, drobo dashboard 1.6.6, drobo 2nd gen connected via Firewire 800.
I recently upgraded the drobo dashboard software to 1.6.6. Now everytime I wake up my iMac from sleep, drobo dashboard doesn't see the drobo being connected. OS X itself still recognize the drobo and can access it just fine. I have to quit and restart the drobo dashboard. Anybody have this issue? It's very annoying.
Question about
Drobo dashboard not recognizing drobo
any word from drobo's offical support? they specialize in this sort of thing.

Pika, I had the exact same problem starting with the install of the 1.6.6 dashboard update. After my Mac Pro woke from sleep as usual I noticed a small circle w/ slash in the apple taskbar. When I open dashboard it said "Ready for Connection" although the Drobo was mounted and the finder could read/write to the Drobo just fine - Dashboard just couldn't see it.
Well, I just got off the phone with a very rude tech support person at DRI who informed me the solution was to NOT put my mac to sleep. Ha! I told him that didn't sound like a solution, and that the previous dashboard version did not cause this problem. His solution was to have me uninstall the old dashboard from Library/App Support/Data Robotics/Drobo Dashboard/uninstall which I did, then go to ftp://updates.drobo.com/, choose pro/software/mac/(1.5.1.dmg) and download and install the previous version of dashboard that I had installed before that worked without issue (1.5.1).
The tech guy claimed that the Mac Pro is at fault. He said there is no way around it except to revert to older version or do not put mac to sleep. He was mad at me for being upset about this SIMPLE problem that appeared to be their fault. I mentioned that the finder has no issue, it's dashboard. He still said it was an Apple issue, that it was "no one's fault" but that it was my computer causing the problem, not the "holy" DRI dashboard software.
Later I read in a forum that you have to have a serial number to access the DRI forums. That is a clear case of them trying to hide known issues from potential buyers IMO. These guys are suspect. I still love the Drobo idea though. Not selling mine, just dealing with it.
I hope a drobo rep reads this post, because your tech guys need an attitude adjustment!
