Question about

Does the standard made-for-the-Xbox-360 wireless controller work with PCs then?

In Game (game shop in England) I saw next to the (meagre) PC section the Xbox controller for PC, and I've always assumed that they were different products. Does the standard one infact work with PCs? (jamiehs' question seems to suggest so)

There is an adapter you can use. My friend has it on his kid's PC. www.amazon.com/Xbox-Wireless-Gaming-Receiver-Windo...

You can use the standard Xbox 360 controller with a Windows PC if you're connected over a cable (and install the right drivers), but I'm not sure you can use it wirelessly since the PC would have no way of connecting.

I could be wrong, or there may just be some dongle that someone sells that let's you connect wirelessly.

I have used my wired MadCatz XBox FightPad with Windows before and it works fine. It appears you need a receiver to use it with Windows: support.microsoft.com/kb/906347

FYI, you can't use the charge and play cable with the wireless controller. You Must have the adapter the others posted above. The adapter will also allow multiple wireless controllers to connect as well (if I recall correctly)
