Does the Sony Reader allow highlighting and/or annotating side-loaded epubs?

Hi. I have the Kobo Touch and I use it mainly for existing epubs which I already have and transfer to the device via USB cable (this is called side-loading; as opposed to buying books via the Kobo store). Unfortunately, on the Kobo, highlighting passages and annotating them is disabled for side-loaded books.
I would like to know does the Sony Reader allow highlighting and annotating side-loaded books?
Thank you!

Yes. The OS on this unit is much better than the previous models. Highlighting and dictionary functionality is really nice. I've always liked the Sony readers for the fact that they are not tied to any one ebook vendor. Suppose the Kobo readers are similar in that regard.
