does the HTC aria on ATT cripple the GPS or can you use the full google nav app for free??

You can use the google navigation app for free. AT&T can't really do anything about that.

GPS is seldomly, if at all, crippled on AT&T phones, but don't quote me on this. If it is, simply root the phone & install the Liberated ROM (stock rom w/o AT&T crapware), or CyanogenMod (cross-phone Android, doesn't have HTC Sense nor the kernel module for the FM tuner)
