Does the EVO 3D have the option to output two images per picture?

The EVO 3D is able to take 3D pictures, but my understanding is that it creates a stereo image that must be viewed through the device in order to see the 3D effect. Is there an option to output two separate pictures, one from the perspective of each lens, instead?

Yes, you can. In settings select a file format JPS instead of MPO. If you then manually rename filename.JPS to filename.JPG and open it with a standard image editor, you'll see two images merged together side-by-side - one from each lens. You can cut each of them our and store as separate files.

2DmitryL: although message looks like a spam, thanks for a link. App is real good! You forgot to mention that it's free - you would get better response if you did.

You can install phereo 3d app and share your photos in 3d on phereo.com directly from your evo 3d. Than u can watch stereo photos on phereo site with red/cyan or nvidea 3dvision mode and so on. You can see separatly left or right side of the photo.

Not that I can tell. I checked the Camera settings as well as the Gallery settings. It will convert a 3D photo to 2D whenever you "Share" to say MMS or Facebook or Google+.
