You've probably already got your question answered, but I'll chime in anyway.
Yes I do have experience with that, although I ended up re-purposing my Drobo for use with another machine instead. You can definitely use a Drobo with WHS 2011, but there's a few gotchas that ended up annoying me. One is that WHS 2011 has a 2TB limit on volumes, so even though you've got a Drobo that can theoretically hold up to 16TB of data, you need split them up into 2TB volumes in order to work with WHS. Also, you still need to manage your Drobo via the Drobo Dashboard. So in a sense you're managing your storage in 2 places: Drobo dashboard and the WHS dashboard. Not a huge deal, but it became annoying to me after a while.
Probably the biggest reason I don't like using the Drobo with WHS 2011 is because unless you have one of the newer models (like the Drobo S), the read/write performance is not good. The Drobo works great as a backup device, but I prefer to use "native" disks for everything else.
If you haven't already, definitely check out www.homeservershow.com. They have a number of good articles and discussions on using Drobo with WHS, including this one which is worth a read: homeservershow.com/using-the-drobo-s-with-whs-2011...
