Nintendo has never marketed towards the hardcore gaming crowd and as such they don't mind having less than impressive graphics. They market towards the family with kids, and they make "fun to play" games that the whole family can enjoy. Hopefully the Wii U will bring some improved graphics, but Nintendo will still design their games to the more casual crowd.

What you're more likely to see embraced by the company, lucashaas, is the same sort of style transition seen with Mario games in which more powerful consoles produce better light and shadow effects, polygon counts and textures--all of which contribute to a deeper, though not necessarily more realistic, game experience.
So if your question is, will they lose the Nintendo style? Answer: Overall probably not. It's core to their business, so they won't abandon it completely.
If your question is "will the hardware get better and can their games have more impressive visuals?," then the answer is absolutely. Horsepower will always increase.
Besides, I've found Mario Galaxy 2, while not without it flaws, to be one of the most pleasant games I've ever played, stylistically. I have no doubt the team responsible for that could make the transition to higher resolution and power thresholds easily.

They could, but it's too bad that the hardware is weak and that the market for the system right now is for more casual gamers.

Monster Hunter Tri is about as good as it gets. If you're expecting more realistic than that, then no.
