Question about
do not buy this until they fix the damage done with the May firmware update
several key features broken at that time - still no fixes released!
I'm still waiting for mac support.

they tell a sad sad story of users who upgraded and lost functionality, stability, and basic features. examples: streaming from a slingbox has audio stutters, playing files from a smb don't allow fast forward, and worst of all - frequent lockups and reboots.
ironically, the march update didn't have any of these issues and most people actually liked it (was the first update that supported SMB playback). but as far as i can tell, no way to roll back to previous firmwares, which means i have no use for this thing at all until it's fixed. :(

Bought this from Amazon- first time I plugged it in, it said there was an update available. I let it update before I tried anything else on it. When I connected to my Slingbox Solo, I was a little disappointed with the the quality compared with what I get with Slingplayer on my Mac. There were artefacts on the screen accompanied by audio clicks, I lowered the resolution to the lowest and this was better but not perfect.
Then, the first time I tried to use it for any length of time I started to experience lock-ups and reboots, approx every 60 minutes. I returned it to Amazon and the replacement box experiences non of these problems. I have it a max resolution and the picture is perfect.
It's telling me that the update is available but I am too scared to apply it - I've no idea if the problem with the first box was a hardware fault, or it was due to the firmware update. The box is doing everything I need it to do and I am very happy with the result. I won't be applying the update.
