Do I really need a case for my iPhone 3GS?

My ifrogz case for my iPhone 3GS is starting to break. I honestly prefer to use the phone without a case but I'm afraid of dropping it. Ironically dust and other crud has gotten between the case and the phone and scratched it up, so I'm not worried about cosmetic damage. What I AM afraid of is dropping the phone and watching it shatter. I want to keep using it until the iPhone 5 is available. Do I really need another case?

You already know the answer . . . I think. I'm not going to even try to talk you out it. If you worry (even a little), get a case and save yourself the stress.

I used a skin for the back of my old 3GS and a screen protector. Dropped my phone a couple of times without incident. The third drop was fatal. I never want that feeling again, and carry my 4 in a otterbox defender . . . probably over-reacting . . . but . . . well . . . never again.

Well, one of the reasons to put a case on an iPhone is to keep the resale value up, say to sell it on gazelle.com when the new one comes out. But the 3GS is now old enough and its easy to get one for $0 down with a two year contract. Not sure there's much point in keeping it pristine really. As far as breaking it, YES you can break it if you drop it. If that worries you, then put a case on it. End of story.
