Do any other budding artists want a Wacom Inkling?

i don't even know how to draw properly, but I still find myself wanting one of these! Does anyone else (whether of the artistic persuasion or not) find themselves wanting this?

I do wonder how well it works though. And I'd love to see more examples created with it!

When I was younger I really, really wanted a drawing tablet. "I can put my drawings directly into the computer," I said. "I can draw on the tablet and then color it in with Paint/Photoshop," I said. "I won't have to worry about running out of pens or paper," I said. "I'll never need another sketchbook," I said. "I'll totally start drawing more," I totally said, with a straight, earnest face.

I own a Bamboo tablet. Know how much I "totally" draw more? Like none. If you weren't already predisposed to draw, it isn't really going to encourage you to do it more.

However, for artists that already do their art thing, I can foresee many, many uses. One example: two friends of mine do art commissions at comic and anime conventions. They usually manage to finish a lot of commissions by the end of the show. They like to post images of the best stuff they were asked to draw over the weekend, but they can't carry a scanner with them, so they have to take photos of the drawings with a digital camera. If they had the Inkling, they could just clip it to the board as they draw and save a digital copy for themselves, while still giving the paper copy to their customer.

For me, I just can't make most of these digital products a part of my workflow. I'm constantly drawing and designing, but for me, nothing has been able to match up with manual drawing tools. While I prefer working with 3D modeling software to actual modelling, drawing on a tablet doesn't offer me any speed increases. Sure I made a couple really nice drawings on my Wacom Bamboo tablet, but trying to use a ballpoint pen for sketching? Not really my style. I have a really hard time trying to force myself to use ballpoint pens in general, let alone for my sketches.

At last, does this mean I can create my stick figures and rage faces for reddit that much faster...?

(Otherwise I'm with Lampbane. I do not sit and draw - I usually stand behind other people and criticise that they're not drawing it the way I want them to - so while it would be immensely cool as a piece of kit, I doubt I'd find any use for it. Still, don't be surprised to see it on my Have list soon)

I totally want one, even though my drawing abilities are limited. I commented on this on G+ recently, and I received the following response: "...everyone can draw. You just have to convince people to appreciate your style. ;)"

I think this is pretty impressive. I've been hoping to see when manufacturers build a writing system where you don't have to buy special paper while having your writings/drawings transfer in digital form.

If this works like what's in their video, it'd be a cool gift for anyone.

Not just the budding artists. ;-) I'm a professional illustrator, and I really want to try one out.

There are both artistic and business applications for this. Meeting notes, diagrams, sketches, illustrations, and more. I really want this. I hope it works well.

One of the coolest devices I've seen in a long while. Could get me motivated to develop my nonexistent artistic "skills".

I want one, but I really don't like ballpoint pens. I'm torn between grabbing one because, well, NEWSHINY, and waiting to see if they create other types of pens/pencils that work with it.
