Do 64gb and 128gb SDXC cards work on the Macbook Air ?

256 GB is just not enough for me so if I'm getting one, I'm considering getting a Lexor SDXC card to upgrade the memory. I just want to make sure both the 64 GB and 128 GB cards work on the Macbook Air.

Oh wow. It looks like you're right. I just found a thread that is dated AFTER iFixit's teardown of the device and it actually does seem to support up to 2TB SDXC cards. My original answer was dated before the teardown and related to some of the other Apple products.

Here is the page for the SD controller that the Air uses: www.genesyslogic.com/_en/product_01_1.php?id=79

Sorry about that.

Edit: Delete this. I tried to delete it myself, but the delete button doesn't seem to work in IE (which my work forces me to use) or on the iPad.

Thanks!

I'm quite suprised by your replies. I read in some places that some people tried 64gb SDXC cards with the Macbook Air of last year and that it worked. I just wanted confirmation that it would also work with 128 gb cards on the latest models.

Is that an offical limitation ? I couldn't find any documentation from Apple specifying what types are compatible.

Not quite an answer, but last year's MBA supported at least the 64GB SDXC card. A person from the Apple discussions confirmed this with a check from the System Profiler after he plugged his 64GB SDXC card in:

https://discussions.apple.com/message/12472899#124...

Edit: Found some official info on SD/SDXC card support. It supports up to 2TB SDXC cards:

support.apple.com/kb/HT3553#5

Note: The kb page doesn't look to have been updated to add in the MBA.

SDXC is supported on Mac book AIR, had no chance to try 128GB card, but all cards up to 2TB should theoretically work.

Example system profiler with 64GB card:d.pr/AupD

Lexor SDXC 128GB card DOES WORK in Macbook Air (2011), I have just installed it, formated as mac journaled (for no other reason than I like that format, FAT seemed ok as well), and am moving there my iTunes library
