Question about
Display Issues?
Any iMac users getting weird glitches on your screen? I've been noticing them on my screen since 10.5.6 and was hoping 10.5.7 would fix it but I'm still getting the same random color and distortion artifacts. I would imagine its a software issue because the glitches show up when I take a screenshot. I've searched the apple discussion boards and it seems like a bunch of other people are having the same problem, I can't seem to find a fix though. I've tried everything, has anyone had a similar issue and/or a possible fix?
It sounds like a graphics card issue... I think it'd cost around $300 to fix though.

It does sound like a graphics card issue. But it would cost more then $300, on that model of machine the graphics card is built onto the motherboard.

If the glitches are showing up in screenshots wouldn't that make it more probable that it is a software issue or a bad driver? Lots of other iMac owners are having the same problem with a few who have paid for a new logic board and are having the same issues. Seems like the only fix so far is to use SMCFanControl.

It's not flickering. Its just random artifacts being displayed on the screen. For example a safari window will get misshaped or a random pink gradient will display in a block on a random part of the screen. It's really hard to explain without seeing it. But yeah, the "artifacts" still show up when I'm screen sharing or using VNC. Thats why I'm hoping its a software issue.
