Thank you for your purchase of the HP TouchPad. Due to the overwhelming demand for this product as a result of the significant price reduction, we were unable to ship your recent order with our usual promptness. We expect that all units will be shipped by Thursday August 25, 2011 and you will receive delivery of your TouchPad on the appropriate date after that given the shipping option you selected at the time you placed your order.
We apologize for any inconvenience this has caused. Be the first to know when your unit ships by clicking here for your order status.
We hope you will give us at the HP Home & Home Office Store the opportunity to serve you again in the future.
Pretty good customer service I think, I can only imagine how frantic their packing/distribution warehouses are right now. Glad to see it's still on its way though!

on a side note, it's frustrating to know that these devices are out there, at the alleged prices, but best buy isn't selling them, at least the ones here are not. i got their employees at 2 stores to acknowledge having stacks of them in the stockroom.

I'd probably buy one if there was one available somewhere. It's more of an impulse buy than anything else. Was going to give it to my Mom.. Oh well. Mom won't get a surprise TouchPad..

I'm probably going to wait for HP to put them back on their site (if that happens).

Hint to contacting onSale: go to www.macmall.com and call macmall up... give them your amazon order # without telling them its from onsale and they will treat it like a macmall order. they give you the tracking number and their internal order number. took me 5 min on hold only, unlike with onsale which took 1.5 hours and they hung up.

Sears order - CC charged - no shipping info yet (Selected Ship to Store)

There's a pretty huge thread similar to this one on the Amazon discussion site, and one poster suggested writing the Better Business Bureau about OnSale using this link:
www.la.bbb.org/ComplaintDetail.aspx?CompanyID=1307...
Not really sure what Amazon's responsibility is in all this, but an argument could be made that if it says "IN STOCK" on their site, then they should fill that order.
