Question about
Did your copy of Halo: Reach stop working?
My brother recently complained that he received an email from Microsoft informing him that his copy of Halo: Reach would stop working on September 21, and that as consolation, he would receive a code to download a free Games on Demand copy.
Though he didn't say, it's most likely that he has one of the special free discs they gave out to some users to test a recent security update. The update issued on the 21st for Halo: Reach now makes it impossible for those users to get online with the disc.

It's pretty nice of Microsoft to continue to support these users, even though they received the product for free, since those users were helping them out (though I doubt anyone playing the game really thought of it as "lending a hand"). The only catch is, that the game download is 7GB, and many people don't have a lot of free space on their hard drives—my brother is still using his original 15GB drive. This bit of charity could prove to be more of a burden.
So, did you have one of these copies of Halo: Reach? Are you going to take them up on their download offer? What's your best solution to managing the space on your Xbox 360 hard drive?

You are right that he received the email as a result of the Xbox LIVE beta test. My copy of Halo: Reach did indeed stop working, and I took them up on their offer for the download (even though I already have the game - so I'm reconsidering my choice now...), but I do have a 250GB HD.
If your brother is an avid gamer, he probably bought Halo: Reach when it first came out. If he didn't, and he was using the beta disc to play the game, it's probably in his best interest to download it, and try to pick up a 250GB HD to replace his 15GB version: www.google.com/products/catalog?hl=en&safe=off...
You can get one for about $75 on Amazon.
If this isn't an option, then he'll have to figure out whether or not the 7GB is worth it to him based on whether or not he's beat the game, does he like the multiplayer, etc.
Good luck!
