Did the latest update kill my remote?

Ever since the latest Xbox Live update my remote hasn't been working with my 360. Anybody else having this issue?

i recently had this issue as well, i found that the remote control settings on the xbox had been changed from only the xbox media remote to the "both remotes" setting. it was weird, but on the both remotes setting, my microsoft remote didn't work, but i switched it to only that remote and now it works fine. i hope this helps.

Thanks for your input, guys. I swapped the batteries for new ones even though they weren't dead and the problem remains. Moved all over the place trying to align the sensors but no luck. My regular controller still works fine and can operate Netflix Instant Watch and the like but it feels weird to watch movies with a console controller.

Mine worked last night (watching Role Models downloaded from the Marketplace, and I lol'd hard) but my Xbox hasn't been hooked up to live since the day before the update was released I think. I will update tonight and see what happens, although not sure if I want to :( you sure the batteries aren't just dead, or something is obsuring the infared sensor?

My sensor gets obscured really easily because its so small and the 360 is in a weird position - too high in my bedroom and too low in the living room. I need to raise or lower my 360 remote or Harmony 720 to get it to "see the sensor" sometimes..

Okay I have to admit I didn't get time to go on my xbox and get the upgrade, my bad and I'm sorry. Will do though after work today! And yeah about the sensor thing, I just find it easier to point the controller at the wall so it reflects into the xbox, expecially when closing the disc tray as my xbox is right in the corner and when it's open it covers the sensor, but it is at pretty much the perfect height.

I updated on Tuesday , and I haven't had any problems. I use the Harmony designed for the 360. I works just as it did before the upgrade. I don't have any sensor issues since my Xbox is centered in the middle of the room under the TV.
Good Luck!

Harmony One user, xbox is set to Xbox 360 remote only (ie, no WMC remote codes allowed), netflix (and everything else) works fine.

I do have to note that I was on the preview program, but I dont think that makes a difference, I Used it last night, and it was fine then.

Thanks again to everyone for posting. I repositioned the Xbox itself and that seems to have resolved the issue. This was super-weird though and I think I may still call Xbox support.

Hmm I just got my xbox back from repair and now my remote doesn't work, it worked with nXe before i sent it in but now it is broke. I have read online that multiple people have had the same thing happen to the and xbox support seemed to not care when the people called in, they just got read the manual by the support rep. Its too bad i really dont wanna send my xbox back in for who knows how long.

The same thing happened to me when I updated my xbox elite on 10/28/09. I started the update using the remote, not the controller. When the update was finished the remote was no longer recognized by the xbox. So you don't have an isolated problem. Have you gotten any answers from microsoft? I'm going to check the forums and if I find anything I will post it here.

I know this sounds pretty basic, but to anyone having trouble with their remote not working, try pushing the round TV button. This happens to me quite often because i set the controller up to use the TV. But even if you don't use it for your TV you should still try to press it once and see if that fixes it.
