Did apple just pull a fast one on Sprint and Verizon with Data speeds?

I may be way wrong with this, but here is what i saw. Apple announced the iPhone would be able to reach crazy fast speeds with the new antennae and such in the phone. i believe the slide showed 14MBPS or something of that nature. but when you look at the spec of the phone, other then having a Rev 2 Radio chip, it is still USDPA and CDMA etc etc. I thought the only way you could get the faster speeds would be to have a compatible HDSPA+/HSUPA+ chip (which i also believe is what AT&T is claiming is 4G) and LTE for the Verizon/Sprint side of things because it is CDMA and not a HSDPA variant. So does this mean that on the AT&T Network they have an HSDPA+/HSUPA+ compatible chip for the 14MB speeds and it will still be 3 and 4 MB speeds on both Verizon and Sprint because it will be going over the CDMA EVDO technology? I hope i am explaining this clear enough and i also hope i am wrong otherwise Sprint and Verizon are really getting screwed.

Yes, the speeds on Verizon and Sprint will be unaffected by the new antenna design (as a result of CDMA technology), just as they will be on AT&T also (as a result of AT&Ts current network capabilities). AT&T has not built out its 3G network enough to the point that this theoretical max could be even close to reached. I mean, the theoretical max for the iPhone 4 is 7.2 Mbps, and it's not like we're capping out on that as it is.

I loved how Apple didn't even claim that the iPhone can reach "4G" speeds even though that kind of speed is termed "4G" by AT&T. On a bigger note, I think Apple pulled a fast one on the entire American cellular network. lol...

Yes that is what I have been hearing. Also, even AT&T doesn't have the technology updated to even be able to use the 14.4 Mbps. So all 3 carriers really will not be using these new speed capabilities.

Tips for giving the best answers

2
Try not to answer with a question. Because that's not really an answer, right?
3
A little research goes a long way. Back up your claims and assumptions!
