Question about
TRON1138

Current product not the same as release product

I bought these the day they came out. They were great. And a great price. One of the ear buds broke. Still under warranty, I went to the Apple Store and replaced them. The ones they are selling now have noticeably thinner wires, and no rubberized plug.

Steve leaves for a few months, and they cheapened his products in his absence.

The new plug is actually superior. The old rubberized plug had issued with weakened channels over time. Are the wires any different in durability or feel besides being thinner?

The wires won't straighten out like the old ones. It feels like if they get bent too much, they will crack. I never had any problems with the rubberized plug. I had them for 8 months before they broke.

Bottom line is, they still sound good. And I have another 12 months on the warranty. Usually Apple improves their products, not cheapens them.

It's a 2-year warranty? Interesting.. I wasn't aware of that. That makes them a killer value.

It's a 1 year warranty. When I got the new pair, it came with another 1 year warranty. They didn't pro-rate it for time already used.

The more I use these, the more flexible the cables are becoming.

Yes, still a great value

I thought the heads-up was nice. :) I was only recently made aware of this, and was actually initially wanting to swap out my pair for the new iteration if I hadn't read that the cabling was inferior. Thinner cables would be nightmares for tangling.

Yeah my rubber plug seems is spinning freely around the metal headphone jack.. I have had no problems with the headphones yet though, but have a feeling that it's going to break "sooner" rather than "never"
