Question about
Creating symbolic links with OSX and Dropbox, good or bad?
I decided to try and move away from storing some stuff locally to putting everything in my dropbox folder. This is mainly document focused as music and pictures don't need to be with me all the time. My idea is to point /documents and /downloads to folders inside of /dropbox with symbolic links just to create a more seamless approach. Is there any downside to doing this that I'm overlooking or should I be set once I create the link?
It's worked seemlessly for me so far. No problems at all. I did it using the ln -s method in Terminal, but I think there are a couple of programs that will do it too.

Great question! This is how I use it:
Dropbox: all documents, photos and videos without symbolic links. Only one folder with everything in it. Simple is always better.
iTunes Match: for music
Movies and TV shows: other place to free up memory
What I like about Dropbox is simplicity.
Good luck!
