Corupted Images on New 4GB CF Card

I recently upgraded my memory card from a slower 1GB CF card to a 4GB high-speed card. Initially I really saw an improvement in image saving performance - especially with burst. However, after a few weeks of use, I started having issues with bad images that the camera couldn't preview, and now I have images that even my PC can't read. Aside from the unreadable image, I have other images that are either only half or less of an image (and gray for the rest of the frame) or other images where parts of other images are mixed together, and appear as a negative image. Is this likely an issue with the CF card or with the camera's saving function? I admit that it's old, I bought it when it first came out, and wouldn't mind upgrading to the D500, but I just want to know what's going on here. Thoughts? Point me to other sites that discuss this issue elsewhere? Thanks!

I think that the 300D got a lot of trouble with this kind of capacity, I bought a CF-SD adapter in the hope of consolidate the storage media for my cameras (and now that the SD card are now cheaper), but the 300D really got trouble writing image on the card.
