Connecting 2 DCT6412 units

I have two Motorola DCT6412 DVRs and I would like to have access to them in different parts of the house (on separate TVs). Can this be done?

To the best of my knowledge, this is not achievable with that model. There are other DVRs from Motorola that can though - the DCX3400/DCX3200 series also known as the AnyRoom DVRs for Comcast. With those, there is a main hub (the DCX34xx) that has the actual recording functionality, and then the DCX32xx are used as terminal boxes that transmit/receive data through their MoCA technology, where you can independently play/set up recordings from the main hub through the cable lines to each individual terminal box.

Your service provider has to support it. If they don't then no.

Depends on how you want them connected. If you want access to both of them on any TV then yes, it's definitely possible, but will be much more complicated and expensive to configure. If you only want to be able to access them from a specific TV, then that's pretty obvious, just hook it up directly to that TV.

I'm assuming you want to be able to do the first, in which case it will depend on whether or not you can run a physical cable to the individual TVs or not.

Thanks skicrave.

I am definitely looking for the first scenario (2 DVRs, 2 TVs. Each TV can access either DVR). Not sure if my service provider (Shaw) allows this..

Assuming they do, what would be involved?
