Compatibility with Burton AMP jacket?

I've been going nuts trying to figure out if this is compatible with the Burton AMP jacket. It is a cool jacket, and the cable routing and padded case integrated into the jacket are good enough, but it would be fun to be able to use the Softswitch controls on the arm of the jacket. I could answer the question pretty quick if I could only get a picture of the headphone jack area, but this has proven surprisingly hard to find. I also can't seem to find one in any second hand shops here in Japan.

If you know about this or have a 4th gen you can snap a pick up that would be awesome :)

Hey Skullmatrix -

I hope I can help.

I have a Burton AMP Jacket I got for Christmas around 2 years ago and have used it successfully MANY times in MANY conditions with the following Ipods: an original Mini (my trusted and faithful friend); a Nano 3rd gen; and a Touch 2nd gen.

The key here, if it holds true in the most recent Nano (which I'm speculating a bit on) is a very hard to find connector (they stopped making them a while ago I think) called a "U-Link" (here: www.ubergizmo.com/15/archives/2006/02/ulink_for_ip...).

Do not confuse this with a V-Link! Those are out there too, but they will make the sound very faint. (Believe me, I know this through personal trial and error).

So if you can get your hands on a U-Link and an AMP jacket - both very rare - you will wonder why the heck Burton EVER stopped making these jackets. I absolutely love, love, love mine. I have a Hi-Fi helmet from around the same era (with built-in headphones) so I am wired head to toe and don't have to expose even my pinkie to change songs or volume.

It is simply wonderful.

Hope this helps!

I also found this as a potential source of the U-link: www.mymacstore.com/product_info.php/products_id/16...

And also the manufacturer might have a few left: www.bti-store.com/default.aspx?category=MP3_Misc&a...

Awesome! This is EXACTLY what I need. Thank you everyone who replied.

Yes, the jacket is fantastic. Burton Japan had a big sale on the Navy base I work on and I got it brand new in the package for $75. They had a TON of them :)

I'll check back in and let everyone know how it turns out. Thanks again for the help!

Oh, and Happy New Year!
