Canon EOS 7D upgrade rumors

I have the Canon 500D since 2009 and I feel that it is time to upgrade. I always wanted the 7D but to be honest the model is almost as old as the 500D, the current 600D and 60D have some features I would love to see in the possible 7D replacement.

Should I keep waiting for the 7D upgrade from Canon or just buy the 60D? When do you think the 7D "Mark II" will be released? What new features should it include?

Canon tends to keep their prosumer and pro lines on a longer release cycle than their entry-level series. I just got a 50D as a temp camera before I go out and get the 7D later this year or early next year. To me, it doesn't matter that a new version might come out soon because Canon's last for such a long time. Heck there are guys still using their 40D's. If you can afford the 7D, just go for it.

If you're considering the 60D, remember that they downgraded from the metal body of the 50D to a plastic/resin body (lower build quality, less weather sealed) and ditched a couple of the other pro features. Of course the added megapixels and video are a great thing, too, but I ultimately decided against it.

It's not coming till 2012 at some point, but, of course, we don't know exactly when or what will be upgraded.

I'd like the articulating screen added in, but that body might be "too pro" to do such a thing. I hope they stick with CF cards and don't go to SD. Since they took out the SD from their flagship 1D X, I'd say they will stick with CF on a 7DII. I'd like for it to use the Digic 5+ processor in it. (which is probably a given) Better AF/exposure is always good, but the 7D already has a better AF system than the 5DMkII. I'm sure that will be rectified when the 5DMKIII comes out.
