Question about
Cannot set up Gmail account in MacOS X Lion.
I have been trying to set up Gmail in MacOS X Lion (latest version) through the Settings App, but it gives some IMAP error and refuses to set up, same story with Sparrow. Its working just fine on my iOS devices.

Can you be more specific about the error?
First, if you are using Google's two-factor authentication (if you don't know what this is, then you are not) then you will need to create an application specific password for it.
Otherwise a few people have found fixes in this thread. Hopefully it helps

Is this the settings you have?
Incoming = imap.gmail.com
Outgoing = smtp.gmail.com
Also under Account information, Click the drop down and edit SMTP server list.
Next click Advanced and verify that default ports are used, SSL is checked, and your full email address and password are filled in.
