Question about
Can you use a standard 2.5" or 3.5" HDD on the slim Xbox 360?
Amazon currently has a good deal on the 4GB Xbox 360 and I'm thinking about getting one and just using my old 120GB laptop HDD in it. Is that possible or do I actually have to buy a proprietary HDD for the 360?

yes read this tutorial: digiex.net/guides-reviews/console-guides/xbox-360-... Sony makes it MUCH EASIER on PS3 just a backup swap and restore in under 15 minutes but this will get ya happily swapping with your xBox
EDIT: make sure you read thru to the end of the thread the software needed is listed with links and it states you need a WD Scorpio SATA drive

It can be done, but it's a pain in the butt and I don't know if I would trust it to work as well. Also, there would be the concern of Microsoft accidentally bricking the 3rd party HDD with a system update. That would suck to loose all of your game data due to that. Not worth it IMO
