What part are you trying to setup? Netflix, Amazon, something else? Are you getting an error message? Are you just having trouble with internet connectivity? Are you connecting over wifi or with cat5 cable?

I know I had an issue when I switched to Google DNS. The Roku box pings moviecontrol.netflix.com to confirm it has internet connectivity and at least when it first launched Google DNS would not route that url. I switched back to openDNS and have not tried again since. You could try pinging moviecontrol.netflix.com from a computer on the same network and see if it can route.

sorry I didn't provide enough info. I could not get it to log on to the local network. It would show wireless, but would stop at local network. Worked with it till midnight, finally got it to connect. I logged in to Netflix and linked that, but I don't have the ability to search in Netflix on the Roku for movies. I'm having to go to the website and select them there. I don't know what I did or did not do in order to be able to search on the Roku. Thoughts?

Sorry, wasn't able to respond over the weekend. Glad you were able to get connected!

The Netflix interface you're using on the Roku box, does it have a white background or a grey one? If it has a white background then you're still using the old Netflix interface. Go to the home screen, then to settings, and the go to the right to update your box (sorry I do not recall the exact name of the icon you select here). Once your Rokue box has updated you should have the newer Netflix interface and should be able to search and browse.

OK, I went to settings, found update, clicked on it to search for update, clicked on update, and it said I was using the most recent version. I know there is supposed to be a magnifying glass showing so that I can search, but it's not there. Any suggestions? Thanks for trying to help me, I am so techy illiterate when it comes to stuff like this.

Sorry it took me so long to reply. I really appreciate your help and yes, I finally did get everything working. It finally let me update and I can search now. It's still a little slow connecting, when it is connecting to the local network, and still fails sometimes, but I just keep trying and it will eventually connect. Don't know what's up with that. But again, thanks for your help!!

If possible I'd try connecting it directly to your network instead of using wifi... sounds like you might be getting some interference... I know that might be difficult to do though...

Hey, I have another question for you, not relating to Roku. Up until getting Netflix, we didn't watch a lot of DVDs but never had any issues when we did. But noticed since I had to get a new TV, that when I play a DVD, the volume is really low. I can turn the TV volume up all the way and still not a lot of sound. Don't really know what to do or what to check or if I need to invest in a DVD player that hooks up HDMI. Any thoughts or suggestions???

Does your DVD player remote have volume controls on it? I know that some will actually have their own separate volume apart from the TV or av system. I'd really recommend getting a decent upconverting hdmi dvd player.... woot.com will often have good deals on these... you'll just have to check it every day and wait.... or you could use the Finder up above to search for upconverting dvd players with hdmi out... and then see what appears to be well reviewed and available at a good price... gdgt is exceptionally useful for that. :-)
