Since upgrading to 10.5, anytime I connect a device via USB (iPad,3GS,4), I can't browse the web (in both Chrome & IE). As soon as I unplug the device, I'm able to browse fine.
This is (presumably) also preventing me from upgrading to iOS5, as iTunes seems to timeout while "Contacting the iPad software update server".
There have been some reports of iTunes using 100% CPU (fixed with "netsh windsock reset"). At first I thought this might have been the issue, but Task Manager shows that the CPU isn't maxed out (I tried a "windsock reset" anyway just in case).
Curiously, I can ping sites ok when devices are connected, so it doesn't seem to take down the entire TCP/IP stack, just my ability to browse.
Can anyone suggest where I should start looking for clues?

Can't browse web when device connected to iTunes 10.5 on XP
Upgrade to a version of Windows from less than 10 years ago? Windows XP SP2 is no longer supported by Microsoft and I think we're coming up on the official end of life for the product in general (meaning the SP3 version). You won't be getting patches and fixes soon, and lots of new programs will simply stop being offered for XP soon. I'd think about doing a fresh install.

FWIW, I resolved my problem. I tried a full uninstall/reinstall of iTunes (and related components...Bonjour, Software Update etc.), to no avail.
I then tried unplugging all other USB devices, and plugging my iPad in directly to a USB port on the back of the PC, rather than through a USB hub. Problem solved. (Must be some conflict with another USB device, or perhaps iTunes 10.5 is less forgiving of USB hubs....I don't know).
Anyway, once I get my iPad and my wife's 3gs upgraded to iOS5, I really shouldn't have a need to connect the devices via USB anymore (thank you wifi sync, iCloud backups & OTA updates!)
I know my XP rig is a dinosaur (will be replaced with an iMac very soon), but I just need it to hold on for a little while longer.
