Question about
Can Root + Apps2SDCard Solve HTC Sensations' storage problem?
THE QUESTION:
Would simply rooting your phone (without flashing ROMs) and installing App2SDcard (or whatever its called) allow you to move ANY/ALL your apps to the microSD card? I know Froyo (Android 2.2) allows you to save SOME developer approved apps to the microSD card, but I want to be able to move ALL/ANY apps to the microSD card.
THE RANT:
HTC Sensation only has 1g of built in storage? That's rather appalling given how well spec-ed this phone is otherwise and how even some of the most humble of Android phones come with at least 4g! Even with Android 2.2 (froyo's) ability to move SOME apps to the microSD card (on my Nexus One), I was constantly running up against my storage ceiling--trading older apps that I didnt want to uninstall for newer ones I simply wanted to try out. I couldnt even consider massive but appealing apps like Adobe's Flash and Google Earth. There was always plenty of space on my 16g microSD, but not enough of the apps were portable to the microSD.
THE HOPE:
This limitation may be a personal deal breaker in my consideration for HTC's Sensation. Hopefully root access is the solution to this problem.

yes. I have an HTC desire running Froyo and had the same problem. I was reluctant to root my phone cause I didnt really know what it would do. However I kept having to delete apps and more crucially my phone would not download emails because I had reached the internal memory limit. I rooted the phone using instructions I found on youtube. I did not flash a rom. HTC sense still runs, in fact all of the settings of my phone are the same. I downloaded the app a2sdFroyo which combined with the superuser permissions allowed by rooting has enabled me to move the majority of my apps over to the sd card and so free up memory. I cannot move all apps. Gmail, maps, the market, voice search, youtube and a productivity suite I downloaded are still phone only. Everything else I have moved across to the sd card. Some apps/programs work better when on the phone rather than sd card like Swype for instance. The only downside I have noticed is that every once in a blue moon an app will hang and give an error message saying it has stopped unexpectedly and needs to close. Other than that I feel like I now have the phone I was hoping for. I would say go for it. Took about half an hour

There is a huge difference between the free internal space on a HTC Desire (147MB, anyway, this is my actual phone), Nexus One (197MB) and HTC Sensation (1GB).
I use a custom MTD on my HTC Desire that allows me to have 302MB of free space on internal, have more than 100 aplications and I still have 80MB of free space. So yeah, 1GB of free space is huge.

I got a DInc2 on launch day and I can honestly say the 1GB of storage is A LOT of space for current android apps. I have 30-40 apps installed, including some games and I've only used 150MB.
