Question about
Can I use Power Nap on a MacBook Pro with aftermarket SSD?
To clarify this would be the non-Retina version of the 15" MacBook Pro 2012.
My guess to this one is unfortunately no. Let's take a look at what other sources say:
Apple: "Power Nap requires a Mac notebook with built-in flash storage. May require a firmware update." - Built in makes it seem that it wasn't added aftermarket (www.apple.com/osx/ )
CNET: "Available on second-generation MacBook Airs and MacBook Pros with Retina Displays, Power Nap is all about keeping Macs up to date even while they're snoozing." - This statement excludes any non retina MBP (which makes me sad) ( news.cnet.com/8301-13579_3-57450482-37/apples-powe... )
Apple Insider: "Power Nap automatically refreshes data, and is silent and power efficient. It works with the second-generation MacBook Air, and the next-generation MacBook Pro with Retina display." - Again about the same as CNET
Bummer
