Question about
Can I replace Kindle Keyboard screen with one from Kindle 1 or 2?
I broke my kindle keyboard screen (and am not covered under the warranty). I disassembled it, which was really easy actually, and was considering buying the little kindle with ad support for like $79 and swapping screens. Before I do that I have seen some older kindles on ebay a little cheaper, and am wondering if they are the same screen. Does anyone know? OH also .... I am assuming that the new little kindle has the same screen, but am not sure.

I don't believe that they're running the same screen because the refresh rates in the KIndle Keyboard/3rd gen are a lot better than they were in the 2nd and 1st generation versions.
Honestly, for all the trouble it would be to manually replace the screen, it'd just be easier to buy a new one.
Even though it's not covered under the warranty, have you at least tried to get Amazon to replace it? I've heard stories of them replacing non-warrantied Kindles before.

update: I purchased a kindle 4 (the little one without the keyboard). After tear down I can confirm that the kindle 4 does not use the same screen as the kindle 3. Bummer. Well actually they might be the same screen, but the connector is different.
