Can I put an SSD in this?

Hey all. I just ordered a new laptop, a Lenovo ThinkPad Edge E220s, so I'm super excited. It's quite a small computer though (12.5"), and Lenovo gives you the option to put an SSD in it at checkout. However, I couldn't afford to do that and just got the standard 320GB HDD that came with it originally. However, I've heard of numerous people with this particular model sticking an SSD in this. Is that possible? If so, what size (dimensions and type) SSD do I need?

According to forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-Edge/Installing-SSD-... you need a 2.5" 7mm drive.

An Intel 320 120GB drive fits perfectly.

Hope this helps.

RunCore makes a great number of SSD's which are top performers. I've had one for about a year now, and it works great. Most 2.5" SATA devices are a standard size nowadays, but the RunCore website will typically list what laptops they work with. IndiLinx is the controller brand inside the RunCore Pro IV product line, which is super-fast, and highly compatible while still being inexpensive for them to use. Most NEW hard drives can only give up data at about 100MB/s at most, whereas RunCore SSD's can give that same data at 220MB/s. Some hard drives can only manage 40-80MB/s - so your improvement could very well be significant.
