Question about
Camera stuck in Video Mode :(
After about 2 years of very light use, the camera started getting stuck in Video Capture Mode when the selector was set to Play Mode. I took it to a specialty camera shop, and they did some serious repair (replaced a board) for $75. It seemed to work fine for a few days after that, and then the problem came back. The shop repeated the repair free of charge, but with the same results. If I hold the camera at just the right angle and shake it, I can usually get it into Play Mode after a while, but the result is extreme frustration.
Has anyone else experienced this issue? Is my camera just defective? Anyone have any suggestions on how to fix it at home? I'm willing to open it up and risk breaking it altogether, especially since my new Motorola Droid has a 5MP camera.

You are not alone! I started surfing the web, looking for help on this same issue. My slider switch seems loose and it gets caught in Video mode. Super frustrating. I've come to pretty much accept that I'll be buying a new camera. My camera had medium use -definitely not thrashed. These things obviously just weren't made to last. Pity, as I had grown fond of mine...

Same here guys. I cant get mine into photo mode even though I push the switch up as high and as hard as possible. I stays in video mode. If I hold it up physically it will sometimes work. Light use. Obviously a flaw. But of course not worth blowing hundreds to (not) get it fixed.

Fixed it guys! I just turned it off, took the battery AND card out for a few minutes and then making sure I had it switched to still mode, put the card and battery back in and turned it on. Working fine again. I suspect it actually does a 'reset' this way so what seemed to be a mechanical issue was definitely a software one ...
