Question about
Browsing Network
Anyone have any luck browsing a shared Windows drive with the N810? I can see the shared drives but never any folders or files. A quick search on the web makes it look like this is a problem for others that Nokia isn't addressing.
Never used windows shared drives with my n810.
I use ssh to copy files over from my computer (which runs Linux).
I guess in windows you can use Winscp for example:
winscp.net/eng/docs/screenshots
You need to install open ssh server on your n810 first.

I can see shared drives on a Linux box and a Mac, both via smb via the File Manaer. I haven't tried Windows though.

you need shares that require no password, and it doesn't refresh if you add files after you start browsing shares, it's weird.

I haven't had a problem with it at all. Then again, my shares have no password on them, and technically they're being shared on my NAS which is running Linux and using Samba.

Thanks everyone for the feedback. Sorry for disappearing for a few months; beyond my control.
I don't think it's going to add much to the solution part of the discussion, but some things I noticed playing with this tonight:
- Initially I had a 'Shared Folders' option in the file manager. At some point I had to reboot and when it came back I opened the file manager before re-establishing my connection. I no longer could see the shared folders (icon didn't exist) and it did not come back no matter how many times I re-opened the file manager. Rebooting again and re-establishing the wireless connection before loading File Manager 'fixed' the issue.
- I could see and stream files from my PC's Music folder. I could see the movie folder, but I could not see any of the AVI files within it.
- As noted by mavhc, file changes are not picked up by the 810. Drop a file into a folder your browsing and the N810 won't notice. I don't see a Refresh option on the 810 either.
- I don't have passwords on any of my shares.
