Broken headphone jack

Hey guys

I had my iPod for about 3 years and while I was over in France, the headphone jack broke. At first I just had to put in the headphones a little differently, and with a little twisting and some prayer, it worked. After that, I couldn't get it to play from the right ear, and soon after, neither ear was hearing any music.

Any suggestions on a fix? I'd like to be able to give it to a friend since I have already replaced it.

It is a fairly easy part to replace yourself. The parts can be picked up for about £10.00 off ebay. What you want to get is a new headphone socket and hold switch. Once you have got your hands on one of them follow this (tinyurl.com/m67rhz) guide and you'll have one fixed headphone/hold switch.
