Broken CF card connector?

On holiday recently I changed the CF card and it didn't want to go in. Being jetlagged I pushed it a little harder and there was a click. Now I get an error message, "unrecognised CF card" or something like that.

If I look into the card slot, one of the connectors seems to be missing, possibly snapped off when I forced the card in. the missing point seems to be in the middle of one of the rows (can't remember which). Can somebody take a look and tell me if all the points in the camera are supposed to be present?

Assuming I've botched my camera, what are my options? Canon repair (out of warranty); claim on house insurance? I already bit the bullet and bought an EOS600d, as I didn't want to be on holiday without a camera, but if possible, I'd like to recoup some of the expense, either via insurance or by getting the 400d fixed and then selling it.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

I don't have the 400D so can't tell you what pins should and shouldn't be there but I'd recommend getting in touch with Canon and getting a quote for repair. I've always been very impressed with their repair service. If you claim on your house insurance you'll get stung on your renewal. The repair should be under the £100 mark so you'll recoup some of the cost when you sell it.
