Blank DVDs

My Inspiron doesn't recognize blank DVDs when they are placed in the drive. I know this because when I click on the drive in My Computer, it says 'Please Insert a blank disk' and it pops the drive open, even though I have a blank DVD in the drive. Anyone else experience this with the old Inspiron 1520, which is the one I own. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi,
Please check the DVD compatibility i.e 4.7 GB or 8.5 GB & support speed 1X- ?? also check with blank CD for the Drive status.

Subh
