Best Windows RSS Readers?

A Tekzilla viewer is asking about RSS apps for Windows. I've already recommended Google Reader for web-based, but they're looking for apps too. Any favorites?

Feed Demon is pretty cool. It'll sync to Google Reader, too.

I'm in love with the Feedly Web App for Chrome. It pulls from your Google Reader and formats the aggregated feeds in a really nice flow.

I think the Google Reader web app is still the best on Windows. tho as others above have said, my preferred method to consume is the Reeder app on iPad :)

I currently use FeedDemon, but I like RSS Bandit (rssbandit.org) as well. Both are good RSS clients for Windows.

Thunderbird has a feed reader. I haven't used it so I can't say if it's any good.

newsXpresso is pretty darn good, and visually impressive.

I am not sure there is a good one for Windows. Feed Demon looks pretty good, but it is always complaining that I have too many feeds/articles. Just using Google Reader until someone ports Reeder to Windows. :)

I love the Chrome Extension Google Reader Notifier: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/apflmjol...

Although since you've said only applications, I don't know why I'm mentioning this.

Most of my RSS is done either through Reeder on my MBA, Reeder on my iPhone/iPad, or through that Chrome extension.

But, as omfugufmo said, I've heard a lot of great things about FeedDemon (www.feeddemon.com/).

I've looked around and I keep going back to google reader. I scan the headers and pop up new tabs of the items I want to read. I usually end up putting them in ReadItLater or Evernote. Pulse and other such readers are prettier, but not as streamlined. Just one man opinion and I could be wrong!

Feed Demon's a fine freestanding product, but if you're willing to go with a browser add-on, I'd give FEEDLY a whirl. Very engaging. If you wish Flipboard would hurry up its Windows app, this is your reader.

Firefox's own Live Bookmarks. I've replaced most of the sites in my bookmarks toolbar with a feed and now I just jump straight into stories from each feed, I don't even bother to check front pages anymore.

I was following this and had the idea that Readefine readefine.anirudhsasikumar.net/desktop.html
and MishraReader mishrareader.codeplex.com/
were the best options out there.
I would love to hear others thoughts on these.
I, too would like something other than GReader in Chrome.

While FeedDemon and Google Reader are the first to come to mind, you can add Omea Reader and NewsGator to that list.

Sorry, I know it's not what you asked for, but I can't think of anything better than Google Reader. People seem to hate the interface, but I love it! It's built for speed, not looks, it's true, but that's what I want in this kind of thing.

A bit late to the party, but I use www.google.com/ig and add feeds as custom gadgets. It means that I get a sort of passive update of news headlines as I go to use my search engine.

I've tried google reader gadget on google.com/ig but it's not worked as well as putting my own feeds into their own gadgets, then putting them where I wanted them.

I also use the RSS features in outlook. It lets me pretend to be reading email while reading news at work :)

I say FeedDemon - Free Windows RSS Reader. I still have yet to see another app that can beat this one.
