Best Vita cases out there?

I'm literally carrying this thing around in an old chenille sock. I didn't get the bundle, so I need a case. Any suggestions?

You're not missing out on anything. I did get the bundle, and the included case is just this side of rubbish. A cursory glance at Amazon search results tells me that I'm going to have to wait a bit for a decent case, though; it looks like just about everything is still only available for pre-order. For now, I think your chenille sock is fine. Bonus points if it's got a monkey on it.

Have you tried a bright blue fuzzy sock that you may have laying around the house? Good chance that could meet your needs in the interim.

I bought this case (www.amazon.com/HORI-PS-Vita-Hard-Black-Sony/dp/B00...), however my vita doesn't arrive until tomorrow...and the case thursday/friday so I cannot speak to the quality of it. I heard good things from a forum I frequent, which is what drove the purchase.

I messed with several of the cases. The Travel pouch is okay but it's really stuffed when you try to pack in the charging cables along with the vita. It's probably best to find a shorter power cable to fit in there instead of the default one which is extra long. This will give you more room on the accessory side of the pouch.

I'm waiting on the Hori Face Cover (www.amazon.com/HORI-PS-Vita-Face-Cover-Sony/dp/B00...) which suppose to protect the front screen and controls as well as cover parts of the back and keep the touch pad exposed on the back. I'm hoping it fits in the travel pouch while attached to the travel pouch.

I'm not to keen on the case that comes with the first editions as it looks like nothing is holding the Vita in when you open it so you have to be extremely careful.

The leather carry case which Sony released feels odd and didn't feel right since its hanging by a piece of plastic attached to the bottom when you play the Vita. Also note that you can't use the Travel Pouch with the Carry Case. The travel pouch is too small to handle it.

The thing is *huge*. I'm going to wait to get the actual Vita before deciding whether to stick with it, but I wouldn't mind a more compact case if you find a good one.

This is the case I got too. Most of my thoughts on it are negatives:

Despite being mostly open on the sides, the port for charging is still blocked.
I thought it'd be minimal, but it's really thick. I'm sure there are cases that offer more protection without being any larger.
The Vita clips into this plastic part, and it's a pain to remove it. And you'd think that would make it feel really secure, but it doesn't—the plastic is attached by a fabric bit with a ton of wiggle room.

The case folds back to make a stand, so if that sounds really useful then it might be worth a look. Otherwise I'd have a hard time recommending it.

I'm looking at the HORI PS Vita Hard Case now, though it looks a bit bulky.

robotspacer said it quite well - the case is unnecessarily bulky, doesn't feel like it protects the system well, doesn't keep coins, etc from getting in and scratching the screen, blocks the charging port, and gets in the way when you're playing. Total piece of junk, sadly.

I got this one from yesasia.com. It's an Hori hard case and it holds 3 games. It was $22 shipped. It comes in several colors as well.

Hori tends to make quality cases and it is also very reasonably priced. The best case will depend on your preferences: hard vs soft, carrying many games/accessories vs very little, and of course aesthetic appeal.

I always go with brand name with cases. Accessory manufactures tend to be on the inferior quality side of things.

The one that comes with the Mexican bundle is a rigid one, it's not just a pouch. Look for that one, but I believe it is only available with the bundle, based on what the PlayStation Blog says:

I'm probably going to get the Official Travel Pouch. It is very similar to the Horii PSP travel pouch I own with space for the system, 4 game cards, and even a place for the accessories.

The back pocket of your jeans (unless you're wearing skinny jeans). You'll look dorky "hip" and when you sit down at a restaurant you whip it out and slap it down on the table and blow people away with your big giant ass technogizmo that's NOT a phone.

Note: the above method of carrying a Vita loses 50% cool-factor as of today...

I have the semi-hard, fake-leather, molded-EVA one that came in the First Edition Bundle. I think it'll do the trick just fine. It has plenty of room inside for the Vita, the charging cable + block, and a few slots for gamecards (if you're going physical). But if you want something for *just* the Vita by itself, it is probably much too big; and without extra stuff inside to fill it out, the Vita will shuffle around inside a bit.

If Waterfield still made a PSP case, I'd recommend it -- it's plenty big enough for the Vita. Don't need the disc pockets anymore, so that'll make it all the more roomy for accessories.
