Displayport and mini-Displayport are the same thing. Get a video card or motherboard with Displayport or mini-Displayport. You can buy a Displayport to mini-Displayport cable for cheap. www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?p_id=6007

Thank you; thanks for the motherboard recommendation. As for the DP/miniDP, I want to use it with the Thunderbolt display, that only has a male miniDP connector. While I think I could possibly use an adapter like this one (www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=101&am...) I figured it would be easier to just find a good card that had miniDP built in.

Assuming it will fit in the case, I think I'll go with something like this (www.amazon.com/XFX-Radeon-Mini-Displayport-PCI-Exp...) but the price is making this a longer term project than I initially thought.

The adapter you linked will not work, all you need is a video card with display port output and this cable: www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?p_id=6007

Getting mini-DP built in is unnecessary and limits your options much more than necessary. Any Thunderbolt or Mini-DP display will work with a video card that has display port or mini display port output without the need for any sort of adapter, just a cable with the right ends on each side.
