Question about
Battery Not Charging
I just purchased a new batter for my MBP 2.0ghz Core Duo. The battery I had before this would drain down pretty quick, but I never had this issue. I get a Not Charging when I'm plugged in. I have tried different operating systems (Leopard, Snow Leopard, Windows 7, Kubuntu) and am having the same problem on all. I've also tried letting the battery drain down below 90% because I heard that the batter wouldn't charge unless it was below 95%. I've also tried a different power supply with the same results. I bought the battery at the beginning of the month. Does this sound like I got a bad battery, and will Apple switch it out if I threw out the packaging? Oh, I've also tried to reset pram and smc with no luck. Any other suggestions?
I have the same exact MBP specs as you and I'm dealing with the same issues. Just now I was at 5%, I plugged it in and it said "not charging - service battery." Now, its charging but the past few days it has said "Service Battery" even when it wasn't plugged in.
I'm thinking of taking it to the Apple store but its so out of warranty, I know all their "geniuses" will suggest is to purchase a new battery. I've searched some forums and a few are convinced its a snow leopard issue.
