Average length of life

My pair went on the fritz a couple days ago (7/13/09) and became mono (right channel wasn't getting a good connection). Looking at my gmail history, i ordered the pair 7/8/08 so they lasted roughly a year. Is everyone else getting a similar experience?

btw I just noticed the user review on this site talking about his avg 9 month experience. He was blaming clogging of the mesh of the earbud. However my problem had to do with the area of cabling near the jack suffering degradation internally. I know because there are certain ways i can "wiggle" the cable and I'll get sound output in both ears.

I've had mine for 3 years and they work great. I don't plug/unplug them a lot, though--they stay plugged in 90% of the time.

I've had mine for nearly 3 years now and they're as good as new. I keep them in an Altoids chewing gum tin while I'm carrying them around so they don't ever get damaged.

I had mine for less than half a year, but I was literally using them 24/7.

The mesh does get clogged up on mine and this causes the sound to get quieter. It can be tricky to clean - usually a lot of rubbing with some metho will do the trick, but if it's particularly bad (and I know this will sound gross), I use my mouth as a "plunger" to unclog it. I don't recommend this if you share your headphones :P

i think they might have improved the build quality or something bc I bought mine last year 2010 and they've been beaten up quite a bit but they're still in excellent condition.
