I dropped my Touch Pro a few days ago and cracked the housing near the power button. Well the button would no longer power on the phone (or revert back from hibernation for that matter) and I was having to soft reset each time I wanted to reboot. Finally got fed up and called in to Sprint's insurance company (didn't really want to suck up the $100 deductible)
Initially they offered me the Blackberry Curve 8330... which isn't really a comparable model - something I made the very polite lady aware of. I actually bought that phone for my girlfriend and it is quite nice, but doesn't possess the type of features or modification ability I have with my TP. Then she threw out the Treo Pro and another HTC phone as options, which is when I really emphasized how much I needed my Touch Pro for practical reasons.
She offered me a Touch Pro 2. As surprised as I was, I made sure there were no gimmicks involved like a higher deductible or it affecting my Sprint upgrade eligibility. After it was all said and done, I should receive it tomorrow. Wow.
Anyways, I jumped online after the call and found that many people have gotten the same treatment. Anyone else here on GDGT experienced this or similar?
