What I want to know is if anyone settled with a more affordable, comparable alternative? If so, which? Or, should we just suck it up?

As much as the monitor seems to outshine the competition, it's main issue someone has in our office is it's cost.
it all depends on what you will be using it for. I love my cinema display and like it was well worth the money i have to edit alot of video for work and i need more then one screen and this was the answer for me if your are looking for something that is going to look great and not break or needs to be replaced in a year look no further the the cinema display it will not disappoint you
