Are there any Mac to Windows switchers? Why did you switch?

Seems like when user switch platforms, it's always from Windows to Mac. It's probably due to the fact that there are more Windows users out there to convert, but there has to be some Mac to Windows users out there.

So what made you switch? Aero shake?

I've transitioned back to a fully Windows setup for home, and am on track to transition fully back to Windows / Linux for work. Workwise things get a whole lot more expensive to switch back, so I'm taking it slow - and there's a chance now that the stuff I use OS X for might actually be going away in any case, so I'm hedging my bets here instead of spending a whole lot on porting software which might end up unused.

OS-wise I'd definitely give the edge to Windows in terms of reliability and utility, but the choice to abandon use of OS X altogether hasn't really been about the merits (or lack of) each OS.

Primary problem for work is the quality - and I mean the ability of the systems to operate reliably, not how good they look - of the Apple hardware, all the way from the Air to the Pro (and even the XServes I'd have to say - although I have none left now). And trying to use them as Windows machines in Boot Camp is worse.

Primary problem for home has been that in a multi-computer environment, OS X actually doesn't work that well from a media management perspective. And since you need to retain Windows for gaming in any case, why saddle yourself with the hassle of managing two OS's per machine in any case?

There are other attendant issues but I'd rate these as the two major problems, which a Windows and/or Linux environment - and Tier 1 makers catering for those OS's - solve.

I don't know if I count... I went from PC to Mac and back.

I love Windows7's interface design and many of the features Aero Snap was a big deal maker for me. I HATE window managment in OSX. In addition it just fits with my life. I like Zune/Windows Phone/Xbox and it just fits in seemlessly.

In addition I prefer developing for the windows enviroment. Visual Studio is superior to xCode in almost every way. (I will stand by that)

Mac is nice, but just wasn't for me.

In addition I wanted a machine about durability, power and features. Not design.

Cheers.

The last 2 new computers I bought were Apples, so when I thought about building an HTPC, I immediately thought of getting a MacMini, but when I looked into the available software and features, I decided to build my own Windows based HTPC. Some reasons: PCI tuner cards are better than USB tuners, more streaming software available, better flash support, I wanted to be able to play some games (LoL isn't on OS X), and I could get better specs building my own PC than I could getting out of a MacMini.

That said, the next general purpose computer I buy is probably going to be another macbook.

tl;dr: Aero Snap

There are loads of Mac users that boot into Windows to play games because OS X's game performance is still sorry. Does that count?
