Apple In-Ear Headphones causing iPhone to pause while playing music?

I use the Apple In-Ear Headphones as my primary headphones. Recently, I have started training for a half-marathon, and am using these headphones daily. I have begun to encounter an issue where the headphones cause music playing on my iPhone to pause without me pressing the pause dongle. It has started occurring so frequently that I can't use them to listen to music. Anyone else experiencing this?

I don't have these specific headphones, but I do have the problem with music pausing/stopping with my headphones when they are not snugly seated in the input jack. When I'm really lucky it constantly activates Voice Command. It could be all the jostling around that is doing the same with your headphones and iPhone. :(

Thanks for the advice liz. I'll try a "snugger" connection next time I run and see if the problem desists.

Well at least it's not just me. I've had the same issue the last few times I've gone running. In addition to the pausing and Voice Command activations I've got a dead right earbud so I think I'll be going in for a replacement pair.

Mine aren't the in-ear buds, just the stock iPhone earbuds with volume control fwiw.

Which model of the iPhone are you using? Also, how are you carrying the phone? In an arm-band, maybe?

Haven't had this issue but I have noticed that rubber surrounding the jack has come loose and "spins" freely around the actual metal jack. I don't know if it's supposed to do that. (I don't remember it being so when I first got it) But I am a little worried about the "snugness" of the jack to iPhone interface after repeated use.

OK, returned these puppies to the Apple Store for a new pair. Will update after a few uses and see if the problem was just my old pair.

Quick update. Returned the pair giving me problems with another pair, and after my first run, same issue.

It's a sweat problem. I'm a cyclist, and I was having the same issue about an hour into a ride. Sweat gets into the inline controls and starts pausing the music or changing songs. The only solution I found was to buy headphones without inline controls. Maybe something like this would work better, but I have no idea. store.apple.com/us/product/H2985VC/A?fnode=MTc0MjU...
