Anyone used the HD Multimedia dock with the Photon 4G yet?

I had forgotten about the dock option, so now I am thinking I am just going to get this with the dock and not bother waiting to see what the next batch of Sprint phones are. What I really want to know is whether anyone has tried using this in the dock with just a USB keyboard? I have no real intention of plugging this into a larger screen, but I would LOVE to be able to use my old Apple Extended II keyboard (with the iMate, of course) with it for working on my writing at a coffee shop. If I can pop this in the dock and jam away on a USB keyboard, I will be in heaven. My fear, though, is that the dock will only operate with a screen plugged in, which would make it useless to me. It has the kickstand, so I wouldn't need a dock if there is an adapter cable to plug a USB device into the micro USB port.

Anybody done anything like this?

I have the dock and use it to connect to my 42 inch. It's amazing at time since I have the keyboard as well. Looks like Google TV at times. I'm using the usb to connect to my logitech wireless mouse and keyboard which works nicely with the unit.

Actually, I think I just saw an announcement from Motorola earlier this week about an upcoming universal lapdock that will work with any of their Webtop enabled phones because it uses a cable to connect the phone rather than a molded dock. Can't remember where I saw it, but it was probably Endgadget or ThisIsMyNext.

From what I've seen, the Photon is the cousin to the Atrix, which has a similar multimeida dock. In the Atrix web page, it states that the dock allows for the connection of peripherals, such as a keyboard and mouse. You can read more about it here:

Hopefully this will be the case with the Photon as well.

I have the dock...love it though since I've only had the phone and dock about a week, don't have a lot of experience with it. Used it to root my phone the first time. Yeah the dock has 2 usb ports on the back in addition to the power and hdmi port. I have a wireless keyboard and mouse from logitech setup on mine. Makes entering lots of information on the photon a breeze. I haven't used the dock for displaying movies yet, and I probably won't use it to do that a lot at home since I have an HTPC on all of my TV's. The thing I'm waiting for is the lapdock for the Photon. The Lapdock is the laptop dock for the phone. The Bionic's lapdock supposedly works just fine with the Photon, but due to the different port layout, you have to jury rig it facing the wrong way in the dock, and I just don't want to do that with my phone. There's been no word on when or if the Photon will be getting a lapdock.
