A lot of office chairs are terrible for the lower back/hips so having access to an exercise ball for sitting and just stretching, etc, can be a great way to keep the ergo aches under control.
I'd really like to get a standing desk one of these days.

I tried one for about 10 minutes - was not a big fan. Decided to go with a very ergonomic desk chair instead.

I don't buy into the hipster-popular stand up desks either, that just fatigues you in a different way - but it does prompt those who might otherwise spend too long sitting around that they have to go and do something else simply because they can't stand up anymore.
My back health has got noticeably worse even on the same chairs now that my ass spends a lot more time on them, and *that* is really the key apart from a fundamentally comfortable chair - do something else on a regular basis. Whether a stand-up desk acts as a mental prod to that better is a personal thing, but clearly many people like the idea. I have a few Ergotron Workfit arms I (or anyone else) never use.
And by comfortable chair, I don't mean the Aerons favoured of the design sheeple. I never fully understood why anyone would consider that ergonomic - too many people think with their eyes.
